The
one paper I quote frequently, came out of John Hopkins, Couzi is
the first author, back in Journal of Clinical Oncology several
years ago, where and again Im going from memory here
but she interviewed, I think, 191 women who had been through
the menopause and had had a history of breast cancer. And the information
was that there was an astonishing number of them who had trouble
with hot flashes 60% rings a bell, but Id have to take
that with a grain of salt. Actually a similar number of women who
complained of night sweats, and a similar number of women who complained
of sleeping trouble. I suspect that many of those are the same women,
because theyre sweating at night and waking up and then they
are tired during the day, having trouble with their sleep. And,
somewhere around one-third of women, a fairly high percentage of
women, had tried hormone replacement therapy, despite this worry
and concern thats out there and about, and somewhere around
one-third of the women said they would like to take something and
would be willing to take hormone replacement therapy "if monitored
closely" for what good that may or may not be we all might say,
for breast cancer.
