Interview with Neil Love, MD Breast Cancer Update for Medical Oncologists, Program 6 2000

Play Audio Below:

Dr. Osborne: After the data that we had with the two big randomized trials against Arimidex, which, itself, looks as good or better than tamoxifen, and other aromatase inhibitors look as good or better than tamoxifen, and with the results of the tamoxifen metastatic randomized trial that should be coming out next summer, that will, of course, be important. But I think there is reason enough to hypothesize that it could be a better anti-tumor agent.

Dr. Love: What about combinations of Faslodex and other endocrine interventions? Any that sort of intuitively make sense?

Dr. Osborne: Well, I think a lot of them might. I think particularly intriguing would be an aromatase inhibitor plus Faslodex. There, you’re doing two things. You’re getting rid of a ligand, estradiol, or at least you’re reducing it down to a very low level, and you’re depleting the receptor. So, that might theoretically be a better way of treating patients. So, that would be an interesting combination.
